"Creating WE is a blueprint for ridding the corporate world of paralyzing groupthink and the barriers of blame and corporate castes that impede innovation and progress. It should be read and embraced by leaders and lemmings alike."

Bob Lutz, Vice Chairman, Product Development

    General Motors North America Chairman

"The quintessential challenge of all leaders is getting everyone aligned and pulling in the same direction as a team. Before Judith Glaser wrote Creating WE, most mangers struggled, and many failed, to transform their company's culture, and engage the organization with a real sense of unity and purpose. Creating WE is a watershed event, so perfectly on target that the holy grail of leadership is within the grasp of every business leader."

    Frank Palantoni, Retired Worldwide CEO

    Gerber Products

"Getting extraordinary things done is never a solo act. "You can't do it alone" is the mantra of the most successful leaders, despite the persistent, perverse, and pervasive hero myth. In Creating WE Judith Glaser provides us with the healthy alternative to the brand-me mentality that is getting in the way of the best ideas and the best people. Her book goes well beyond hype and offers practical solutions, real-life examples, and useful tools. Creating WE is about the real "reality show" in business, and I recommend that you tune in."

    Steve Iovino, CEO/President

    The Leadership Challenge

"Judith writes with the conviction of a person who finds true meaning in her work. She cares and it shows! Creating We goes beyond describing the way we should work - it describes the way we should live! As Judith has powerfully learned, life is short. Creating We gives us a great roadmap for building relationships and finding meaning. Ultimately, this is all that matters!"

Marshall Goldsmith, author of 18 books on leadership and a regular columnist

    Fast Company

"Judith Glaser's book, Creating We, is a practical hands-on guide to developing leaders at all levels. She shows us how leaders can energize and develop other leaders, a must read for any leader."

Noel Tichy, Author (with Nancy Cardwell) of The Cycle of Leadership and Professor

University of Michigan Ross School of Business

"In the fast-paced corporate world we live in, common sense is often forgotten-or simply ignored. Judith Glaser's "Creating We" is full of common sense thinking that invites the "human" back to the corporate environment. The concept of 'We' leadership can restore the humanity in our work and our homes."

    Nancy Hunt, President

    We Are Family Foundation

"As I read "creating WE" I was struck by Judith Glaser's ability to shine a strong light on the role leaders play in determining a company' culture and ability to succeed. More importantly, she provides practical advice on how to achieve extraordinary results by focusing on optimal behaviors. Creating WE provides real insights into corporate culture and why leaders behave the way they do. More to the point, she describes the impact that behavior will undoubtedly have on the success or failure of an enterprise and how shifting these behaviors can change a company's destiny."

    Felice Schulaner, EVP

    Human Resources Coach

"Clearly Creating WE reminds us all that 1 + 1 can truly be greater than 2. I think it is difficult for "experienced" managers to be open to improving their approach to managing. I found that I was a little bit resistant as I started to read your book...the examples you gave helped to break through the "resistance." Thanks for being our teacher! I am enjoying the book...I found myself needing some reminders!!!"

    Anna Bakst, President

    Michael Kors

Creating WE is a thorough investigation and synthesis of the best thinking on leadership. Judith Glaser's new and fresh perspective helps leaders see how to create leaders, not followers. This book must be read by anyone who aspires to be a WE-centric leader."

John Watson, Ph.D., Senior Director, Licensing & Development

    Pfizer

"Judith Glaser hits on the single most important element in all of the discussions about leadership, culture, and transformation: She deals with the power of individual and co-creative leadership."

Jim Hoverman, President and CEO, author of Summiting

    Blue Chip Marketing Group

"Judith Glaser hits on the single most important element in all of the discussions about leadership, culture and transformation: she deals with the power of individual and co-creative leadership. If you are a leader in any organization, for profit, not-for-profit or government, you ought to read this book."

Lynn San Andres, Former President, NAWBO-NYC

Chapter President, Mason Alexander Group Ltd.

"Creating WE should be required reading for every "C-suite" executive who has the courage to really embrace change."

Dick Singer, President, RDS Associates Chair

    TEC International

"The key in business is the leader's ability to enable everyone to feel like they are part of a winning team - we know this mantra in our hearts, yet making it happen is much more difficult. Creating We gives leaders a roadmap for shaping the DNA of their company -creating a culture of inspired leadership and ownership of the future. This is a seminal book on leadership that every executive must read!"

    Judy George, CEO

    Dumain Home Furnishings

"I found Creating We. Practical, inspiring, real "here's what people were facing, here's how they (and you) can create a different and better outcome" examples. You take what are genuine challenges we all face to one degree or another and help us see much better alternatives!"

    Angela Scalpello, VP Human Resources

    PRNewswire

"Judith Glaser's experience and inspirational leadership in an easy-to-read roadmap!! Challenging everything you do and think you know...this is a reference guide for personal and organizational transformation to achieve breakthrough levels of improvement...!"

    Craig Muhlhauser, CEO

    Exide Technologies

"Judith Glaser has nailed it! Creating We offers a compelling blueprint for the only kind of corporate dynamic that can work in today's world. A must-read for every corporate executive or business owner."

    Gary Zammit, CEO

    Clinilabs

"Creating WE puts you in the drivers seat as you steer your way through an array of practical situations and challenges that generate new ways of thinking about leadership and culture within an organization. A tremendous resource for leading the charge in creating a WE-centric organization."

    Stan Juozaitis, Director

    Sales/Systems Training, Unilever NA

"The right book for the challenging times we face in today's business environment. As many companies struggle with trying to sustain growth utilizing outdated programs, your book takes the reader from your description of the "culture of toxicity" to thought provoking concepts you mention that allow people to "tune in" and create ways to help companies grow stronger. I remember a book from 1986 that chronicled the rise and fall of a retail giant. A great company brought to its knees as a result of the very things you write about in your book. The personal fiefdoms, the arrogance and the poor communication that is rife in many companies today. Your book shows how companies of all sizes can remedy some of systemic issues within by empowering its managers and associates to become "the new generation of leaders" you describe. Many who read your book will have a copy of Becky's poem in their "blackberries" or "Daytimers". Thanks for the opportunity to have a "first look!" I'm sure I'll be ordering copies."

    Rich Wilson, Director

Retail Sales East Region Pepsi-Cola Company North America

"Collaborative management is no longer an option. Global competition and 21st century technologies have made "war lord" managers obsolete and therefore dangerous. Creating WE is a beautifully written roadmap to building the collaborative management teams this new environment demands."

    Ernest E. Keet, President

    Vanguard Atlantic Ltd.

"Judy Glaser is a leader's leader - "Creating We" is destined to become an essential management tool."

Michael J. Morris, Publisher, Former Chairman

    Reader's Digest Young Families

"Creating WE is a terrific book. Judith Glaser develops a real world approach to help companies see beyond their limitations and the constant crisis de jour to develop new attitudes for success. I'm a believer."

    Alan Baral, COO

    New Wave Entertainment

"Just wanted to let you know I started reading your book when I got home and had a hard time putting it down. I am not a fast reader and only got to the place where Bob Lutz enters the scene. I love how you weave cancer and the dysfunctional organization together. It makes the book feel a bit like a mystery to me. It kept me wondering how the story is going to turn out."

    Harold Feinleib, Chairman

    Aperture

"Leadership and teamwork are at the heart of every great accomplishment. But so many negative forces work those accomplishments. Team members worry about being blamed for failures or perhaps being cheated out of credit for their accomplishments. In Creating WE Judith provides a thoughtful, integrated yet practical approach to overcome these forces that will help you turbo-charge the performance of your organization."

    Paul M. Connolly, Ph.D., President

    Performance Programs Inc.

"Somewhere between the 1960s and the 1980s, the We Generation became the Me Generation. Fortunately the pendulum is swinging back but with a new sophistication and pragmatism as Judith Glaser brilliantly documents in the world of work explaining why "we thinking" is a key to success in personal and business terms. To borrow a phrase from Jamaica's Rasta culture, she "overstands" the problem and points us in the win-win direction."

Danny Schechter, Author and Filmmaker Editor

    Mediachannel.org

"Judith Glaser is all about "we". Now others can tap into Judith's wisdom and learn how to create and sustain miraculous transformation in their personal and professional lives. Creating WE reminds us that it is an illusion that we can create or implement meaningful changes on our own. Fortunately, Judith Glaser provides a clear road map for those serious about creating significantly more unified and effective workplaces."

Deb Jacobs, MSOD, President and CEO

    Innolect Inc.

"Meanwhile, I had the time to read your book during the break. It made for a very interesting read. I found it to be a clearly written guide to becoming a strong manager, with down-to-earth real life examples. It was wonderful for me, in particular, as I strive to become the kind of manager who is both effective and inclusive. Thank you for allowing me to read your galley!"

    Joan DeSalvatore, Dean

    Business School Lehigh University

"As a result of our work, the energy levels are way up, the cooperation and teamwork is high and the progress we're making is excellent. Our challenge now is how to follow-up and continue to build from this great start. I look forward to working with you to that end."

    Steve Iovino, CEO/President

    Education First, Chase Manhattan Bank

"You accomplished in weeks what other consultants could not deliver in months. Your approach to solving organizational problems and helping us to focus on corporate goals is unique- no one works as you do."

    Mary Wang, CEO/President

    DKNY

"I want to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for the work that you are doing with New Wave Entertainment. We've moved from "resistors" to "creators" with blazing speed. Each of the almost twenty individuals on our executive team became teammates with a shared vision. I am more proud of New Wave than ever. The enthusiasm here is tremendous, and our momentum continues to build."

    Alan S. Baral, Principal

    New Wave Entertainment

"Every evolving new business has "defining moments" that serve to enhance future success. Our time with you was certainly such a moment, and I hope that we will be able to use all of our new insights to achieve more exciting goals. Your approach to our group was just what was needed and you were able to gain trust and confidence quickly which provided the foundation for an important experience."

Colonel John W. Ripley is a revered Marine Corps legend, one of the most decorated Marines of the Vietnam War, and an acclaimed authority on performance under extreme adversity. Col. Ripley, a U.S. Marine combat commander, who also commanded British Royal Marine Commandos in combat, single-handedly blew up the Dong Ha bridge in Vietnam, thus blunting the largest North Vietnamese Army offensive (the 1972 Easter Offensive) of the Vietnam War. His heroic action at Dong Ha Bridge was chosen to memorialize and symbolize the entire history of all Naval Academy graduates who fought in that war, dramatized by a diorama in the Academy's memorial hall entitled, "Ripley at the Bridge." In June of 2008, Col. Ripley was became the first Marine ever to be inducted to the Army’s 2008 Ranger Hall of Fame. He is the subject of dozens of books and the recipient of a host of honors, including the Navy Cross, the Silver Star, two awards of the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars with Combat "V", a Purple Heart and the Cross of Gallantry. He and one other Marine share the distinction of more combat experience than any other active duty Marine. He has held professorships at The Naval Academy,Virginia Military Institute and Oregon State. He served as Director of Marine Corps History and Director of the Marine Corps Historical Center. Col. Ripley has served before the Justice Department and on a Presidential Commision as an expert witness on women in combat. He is regularly asked to testifiy before both Houses of Congress and is called to address the FBI regularly on issues related to the military. A renowned authority on ground combat, he has appeared on national networks FOX, CNBC and CNN and is often quoted in the National Review. He is also a highly sought-after speaker before professional audiences as an expert in combat leadership, high performance and the value of humanities, classics and liberal arts in corporate life.

"We live in a time of heroes, or diminished heroes, or ''anti-heroes." Certainly, as a people, we could use an infusion of the values that heroes historically hare provided - of the reassurance and inspiration their reckless gallantries have given the faithful. John Ripley's destruction of the bridge at Dong Ha has been called "an act of almost indescribable courage" and - elsewhere - "the most extraordinary act of individual heroism of this, or of any, war."

    Ross Mackenzie

    Richmond Times-Dispatch

"Captain Ripley carries case after case of explosives out beneath the bridge, bleeding from trips through the razor wire, thinking about his wife and children back in the world. One may wonder just why a man with a family was dangling beneath a bridge under fire in Dong Ha..."

    Fred Reed

    The Washington Times

"... what he (Ripley) did was no mere footnote to history. He succeeded in stalling the North Vietnamese Easter Offensive of 1972. The drive never regained its momentum."

    Navy Times

"The Bridge at Dong Ha has value as a lesson in leadership - using one's courage, talent and initiative to save the day in the face of 'fearful odds' - to save his unit, and in this case, his army from destruction,"

Anthony "Cold Steel" Walker, Colonel, USMC (Ret.), U.S. Marine Raider

    Naval War College Review

"Seldom in military history has one man, through one action, been able to affect the outcome of war so directly. We have a lot to learn from John Ripley - about demo, about battle, and about ourselves."

Paul Shemella, Commander, USN, U.S. Navy Seal

Full Mission Profile - Fall 1992

"Ripley's 'Believe It Or Not' feat at the Dong Ha Bridge makes some Medal of Honor feats pale by comparison. It was as though John Walter Ripley had prepared all his life for what he was to accomplish during the 1972 Easter Offensive in Vietnam."

    Tom Bartlett

    Leatherneck

"The decision was a quiet one, a simple one (to destroy the bridge), and represents Ripley's philosophy that permeates the book: do what has to be done. Miller quotes him as thinking, "Do what you came to do. Performance counts. Nothing else matters. Do it."

    Gay Moore

    Marine Corps Gazette

"Ripley literally changed history by blowing the bridge at Dong Ha - [He] will climb into that Valhalla of heroes of bone deep tan, who fought in every clime and place where they could take a gun."

    William J. Davis, Colonel, USMC

    Marine Corps Gazette

"To inspire a people, a hero must either rise out of their midst, or merge with them if he is from another culture. Such is the story of Marine Colonel John Ripley, known throughout the Corps as "Ripley at the Bridge."

    Evans Johnson

    New York City Tribune

"It's easy to give your all when victory appears to be around the corner. The real hero is the man whose sacrifices for his brothers-in-arms come from a sense of sheer duty, even though he knows his efforts are probably doomed to failure.
John Ripley was an experienced warrior, alone with the courage of his convictions. All the physical, and mental and spiritual strength he had built up in a lifetime of service found application on that Easter Day."

James B. Stockdale, Vice Admiral, USN (Ret.)

Forward, The Bridge at Dong Ha

"To every man there comes in his lifetime that special moment when he is tapped on the shoulder and offered that chance to do a very special thing, unique to him and his talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds him unprepared or unqualified for that work."

    Winston Churchill

"Give me where to stand, and I will move the earth."
    or
"Give me a lever and a place to stand, and I will move the earth."

    Archimedes

"No thought of flight, none of retreat, no unbecoming deed that argued fear; each on himself relied, as only in his arm the moment lay of victory."

    John Milton

    Paradise Lost

"Act as though it were impossible to fail."

    GySgt S.C. Holt

    USMC Drill Instructor

"The test of character is not 'hanging in there' when the light at the end of the tunnel is expected, but performance of duty and persistence of example when the situation rules out the possibility of the light ever coming."

James B. Stockdale, Vice Admiral, USN (Ret.)

'To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh soon or late;
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods?"

    Lord Macaulay

    Horatius at the Bridge

'This is a story of individual action. One Marine, Captain John Ripley, decides on his own, and acts. In so doing, he serves the entire Command; in fact, the entire nation. A one-man tactical action strikes directly at the enemy's strategic center of gravity. As a result, the North Vietnamese Easter Offensive is stalled out.

The Bridge tells the real life story of one of the most astounding acts of heroism during the Vietnam War. Today's generation of Marines will receive from this story the inspiration for tomorrow's victories. One Marine deciding and acting before the enemy can react, stops a column of tanks and a strategic offensive. This is risk-taking, boldness and action without orders. It is leadership from the front and quick thinking. It is seizure of an opportunity."

    Marine Corps University

"In the long history of warfare there are very few occasions when one man's actions change the entire nature of the battlefield, if not the war. Ripley's actions at Dong Ha are one of these occasions."

    Introduction at FLA

"John Ripley is the Marine Corps' poster boy for endurance; physical endurance, mental endurance and combat endurance."

    Speech Introduction NYC

"We named our Forward Operating Base "FOB Ripley" after Colonel John Ripley, a true hero of the Marine Corps and someone who had a uniquely offensive mindset - which was the mindset we wanted to make sure all our Marines had - all the time.

I wanted to capture the essence of the Marine Corps' offensive spirit, and I could think of no name better than that of John Ripley to provide that."

Gerard Senehi, a Principle Faculty Member of Liminal Group, is one of the worlds most acclaimed mentalists and an internationally recognized "superstar" in psychic entertainment. A master of telekinesis, thought reading, and telepathy, Gerard often has members of the audience - to their total astonishment - mysteriously and successfully perform impossible feats.

Gerard received an advanced degree in Psychological Education from the University of Massachusetts after receiving a BA in Psychology at Amherst College. He is a founding member of EnlightenNext, an international non profit organization, endeavoring to define the contours of a new human consciousness and culture. In the last 18 years, Gerard has been involved in different capacities with EnlightenNext: serving as Director of its New York Center, overseeing the Paris Center, as Director of Human Resources to EnlightenNext, as a member of the Board at the International headquarters in Lenox, Massachusetts and is on the Executive Development Committee. In this capacity, Gerard has been deeply engaged with critical questions about where humanity is going and how we are going to respond to the complex world issues and create a positive future.

Gerard is interested in exploring how expanding our perspective on life can transform the choices we make and the relationships we have, given that there is a profound depth to the human experience that most of us rarely have access to due to a constricted perspective.

Gerard often will accompany his "experimentalist" performances with talks geared towards deepening our awareness about the difference between "knowing and seeing." He wants audiences to learn how to expand their perspective to connect with the thrilling passion and sense of purpose of our deeper humanity.

GGerard has appeared on many television shows in many countries including Last Call with Carson Daly, I and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and has been featured in New York Magazine and the New York Post. His corporate clients include: Alliance Capital, American Express, Bank of America, Blackrock, Boston Scientific, Carlyle Group, Deutsche Bank, GE, Starbucks, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan, Lehman Brothers, Liz Claiborne, Merrill Lynch, Novartis, SAP, Time, Time Warner and many others.
